Chris Sutton, Paul Dalcanale, and Jordan Torgerson - Rising Wolf Cranbrook and Home Hardware
I can’t believe we’re already nearing the end of November… it’s also MOvember, which for those who are unaware, is a month-long event that was started a number of years ago to raise awareness for men’s prostate health and raise money for prostate cancer research, and guys would grow as much of a moustache as they could during the month to show their support. Over the years, a few other men’s health related issues have been included in the MOvember, one of the most prominent being men’s mental & emotional health. For many many years, there has been a strong, unhealthy stigma toward masculinity and how men should bottle their feelings and just keep moving forward like everything is okay. This has done nothing but fuel addiction and dependency issues, increase annual suicide rates, and create a sense of shame toward asking for help.
The guys I’m introducing today, are doing everything they can to change that. On the left is Chris Sutton, he and his brother Paul Sutton are the founders of Rising Wolf. Chris quickly joined his brother in this movement after seeing the incredible changes Paul was making in his own life through this work, and Chris has experienced the same type of personal growth and positive change that he now helps bring to other men. (Paul Sutton - not pictured, is currently in California, receiving further facilitator training through the Sacred Sons healing brotherhood). In the middle is Paul Dalcanale, he became involved with Rising Wolf fairly early on, lending his expertise in visual and social media to get the word out about the organization, coordinating the bi-weekly gathering schedules, and contributing beautiful pieces of laser cut & engraved woodcraft for things like necklace pendants and keychains for those attending, donation boxes for gathering support funds, and wall art as tokens of appreciation for donors that have helped fund getting this organization off the ground On the right, is Jordan Torgerson, a member of the family that owns the Home Hardware business in Cranbrook. Jordan has generously provided an indoor space to have a pop-up information booth for the month of November, where the Rising Wolf gents have been hanging out every Saturday to share information about the organization and the assistance & resources available for those who are looking for some. Having dealt with my own mental & emotional health challenges throughout my life, it pretty much brings me to tears of love to see the impact these guys are having, and the positive change they’re facilitating in men’s lives.
