Today's featured person on Heart of the Community is Ryan Doehle, Founder and CEO of Isosceles IT in Cranbrook BC. Isosceles has been using their 3D printing equipment to make ppe & medical equipment components to help supply hospitals and healthcare facilities during this Covid pandemic.

How has the Covid situation affected your daily business?

Isosceles is down about 30% on average, mostly due to the loss of project revenue. Service work is up however, with March being a very busy month setting up remote workers. The end of May and June is looking very busy however, with a bunch of projects looking to start up again.

What positive things have you been seeing during this pandemic period?

I am personally happy to see how COVID has turned the focus more to personal health and wellbeing. I’m excited how the work world could look post pandemic, with more people working from home, maybe a shorter work week, and how a Basic General Income might change society.

Have you been doing anything in particular to stay positive during these trying times?

I am lucky enough to be isolated with two almost adult children, and as a result am getting a lot of extra time with them. Our family is enjoying fishing and the great outdoors here in the Kootenys a lot as well.

Is there anything else you'd like to share or wish people were aware of?

We are very lucky to live in Canada, and specifically the Kootenays. Our area has so far avoided the worst of this virus. It is easy to forget how good we have it during the rush of the day to day. Isosceles is also looking forward to the full re-opening of society, and the new partnerships and contacts we will make as things re-open, and new businesses start. We are also very thankful to have avoided the worst of the economic hit, being able to keep our staff busy, and employed, ready to hit the ground running when this virus passes.
