The HEart of the community.
In early 2020, our world was turned upside-down by the outbreak of Covid-19. Businesses were forced to shut their doors, contracts for work were canceled or postponed, gatherings and events were prohibited, and the majority of our social media and news was totally over-run with all of the heart-breaking news stories of the struggles, hardships, and grim realities that people were faced with.
I wanted to do something for our business community, to create some positive news about the businesses and organizations that make our city what it is, to share the personal side of how they've been managing through this trying time, and to help encourage support for all of these amazing people. Fueled with inspiration from a similar project launched by Vancouver photographer Erich Saide (Humans of Support), I put the wheels in motion to get my project off the ground. The first feature was posted on April 26th 2020, and is an ongoing personal project. Since business has begun to return to a more normal pace for many people, including myself, the frequency of the features has decreased, but will definitely continue.
If you'd like to follow along with the project, and read the stories of all of the wonderful people that have made time to participate in this project, you can find it both on instagram and facebook
